In an attempt to find a useful simple sound editor, I tried
sweep 0.0.9, but playback does not work. Compilation on my
Alpha machine (UP2000, single 21264, Redhat 6.1, 2.2.13 kernel)
was (apparently) successful. However, when I try to play back
some sound samples that came in the Redhat distribution, all I
get is white noise. Both "play" and RealPlayer7 work on my
machine, so I would believe my ALSA sound infrastructure are
Given the low version number, is sweep ready for actual users
to actually use? (Maybe I'm too early for it.)
I get an occasional assertion failure related to Gtkobjects,
but that looks more like GUI stuff than actual sound sample
processing. Or, could these be clues to the problem? I don't
have one on screen at the moment, but I could gather some up
and send them.
Might this be a 64-bit vs. 32-bit issue? If so, how can I
help debug it? Should I dig into the source, try to do a
patch, and send the results?
Other than this problem, thanks for providing this apparently
very good program.
