I deleted all and installed it new, the last cygwin-release, just downloaded
from the internet, full install.
I downloaded and extracted the last Version (2.2.1) from sdcc again.
I made the directories
mkdir -p bin
mkdir -p /bin
mkdir -p /usr/local/bin
mkdir -p /usr/local/share
mkdir -p /usr/local/share/sdcc51lib
mkdir -p /usr/local/share/sdcc51inc
mkdir -p /tmp
Yes, the new cygwin uses c:\cygwin as root.
also i made the same directories under c: as root.
I can´t do the number 6. from the File cygwininst.txt
6. Add Programs to /bin Expected by the Installation Process
- Look at your path: echo $PATH
One of the fields is the diretory with the CYGNUS programs.
my path is empty
- cd to the directory found above. You may have to fiddle with the
case (upper or lower) here because the PATH is SHOWN as all upper
case, but is actually mixed. To help you along, you may type
a letter or 2 followed by the escape key. The shell will fill
out the remaining letters IF THEY describe a unique directory.
If you have problems here, cd one directory and type "ls". "ls"
is the equivalent of "dir/w".
- Copy the following:
cp sh.exe /bin
cp pwd.exe /bin
cp echo.exe /bin
this three files are already in /bin
I changed to installdir
I made a './configure'
I made a 'make'
I made a 'make install'
I got some different errors like 'error [#]'
with # = 1 or 2
The result, I got some binaries under /usr/local/bin
but nothing under /usr/local/share/sdcc51lib and /usr/local/share/sdcc51inc
attached is a dirlist from /usr/local/
hope somebody can help me.
All I want to have is a running sdcc, with all I need to compile programs,
and some documents.

Subject: Re: [Sdcc-user] install/compile sdcc under win98
All I do is the ./configure, followed by a ./make
Instead of running "make install" I go into
device/lib/large folder and copy a few .lib files up:
same for /small
Then I add the sdcc/bin to my path
and use sdcc compiler options to specify the lib and include paths
in device directory.
I just tried a make install, worked OK.
The newer cygwin makes it look like the root file
system is in the CYG directory(wherever cygwin is installed),
so you won't find it in a real /usr folder. For example,
mine is in F:/cyg, so you find it in F:/cyg/usr/...

have downloaded and installed the last version of cygwin. I have downloaded
the last version of sdcc, unpacked it, made the directories and copied the
files , made a <./configure>, then a <make> and last a <make install>. but
there are no files in the directories /usr/local/share/sdcc51lib and
/usr/local/share/sdcc51inc. What made I wrong?
