I've now dealt with
* the half-dozen or so patches that I received from Martin Atzmueller
before I left for the American Go AssociationCongress
* the new patch FIX-CORE-SOURCE-INFO patch from Martin Atzmueller
* the FILL-POINTER-OUCH patch from Tim Moore on cmucl-imp
I also fixed some old bugs (number 26, number 55, non-ANSIness of
treating inferred function type as a declaration, and need for two
Ctrl-D to terminate input).
Thank you, Martin! (and Tim Moore too, if you're out there)
Since I didn't have Internet access at the AGA Congress, I did
everything in a temporary CVS repository on my laptop. Sometime real
soon, hopefully later today, I plan to do the necessary diffs and
commits and whatnot to update SourceForge CVS, bringing it up to
version sbcl-0.6.12.58 or so in one fell swoop.
Probably after a little more messing with that version (especially
seeing whether it's possible to bootstrap with CLISP), I'll release it
as sbcl-0.6.13. After sbcl-0.6.13, I intend to start making the
various more-radical changes that I'd deferred until sbcl-0.7.0.
I'm not sure what the CVS tree structure will look like at that point.
I'd like to leave the possibility of releasing sbcl-0.6.14 later, with
no radical changes, only minor bugfixes. Maybe that will become
stable_0_6_branch or something.
I haven't decided what the version numbering on the main CVS branch
will look like in the transition from sbcl-0.6.13 to sbcl-0.7.0. Maybe
it will go "0.6.13", "0.pre7.0", "0.pre7.1", .. "0.pre7.33", "0.7.0".

"The King with half the East at heel is marched from lands of morning;
His fighters drink the rivers up, their shafts benight the air,
And he that stays will die for naught, and home there's no returning.
The Spartans on the sea-wet rock sat down and combed their hair."
