This appears to be related to some javascript included
in the feed that hides/shows excerpts.  Take a look at
the QandO feed (http://qando.net/rss.aspx), any of the
items that have the show.gif in them and associated
javascript are causing errors.  error happens whether
javascript is enabled or not.

My feed at http://www.splatteredbits.com/tp/rss/ at one
point was invalid, because it contained "&" in a
description and relative links in a couple of the
articles.  As such, RSS Bandit was showing feed errors.
 Well, I cleaned up those errors, and now the feed
validates just fine, but RSS Bandit keeps reporting
that there are feed errors.  I think it might be
caching the old, invalid feed.  I tried clearing the
cache, but that didn't work.

Because we also store the etag and last-modified of the 
retrieved feed, that may influence this refresh behavior.
If you fixed the feed, it should get a new etag/last-
modified returned in the HTTP header.

We always check, if the current executable (incl. path) is 
the default aggregator. Your checkbox setting is saved to 
the .settings.xml file within your %APPDATA%\RssBandit 
folder. This setting will be reset to true again, if you 
make RSS Bandit the default aggregator (to enable you will 
be ask again, if another application take over the 
ownership).
To verify what happens in your case: check, 
the .settings.xml file gets written. Check, you don't start 
two different versions of Bandit (from different folders) 
after one another. They will share by default your %APPDATA%
\RssBandit folder! Check, the registry is written 
successfully by searching for "feed".

Export my feeds (native format) on one machine, try to
import them on another, get the error message: "RTSS

An error on import the feedlist from "H:rssbandit.xml
occurs:

1)	RSS bandit should be able to read what it wirtes
2)	The error message is very unhelpful. Same key as
what? Which key is failing? How do I fix this? Not
enough information to do anything with it.
3)	If one key fails, why can't the rest be imported?

The Network Connection State keeps going into the 
disconnected mode.  The problem is not with the 
connection, as I can test the connection when the 
state shows as disconnected, and am able to browse the 
web.  This happens frequently, but lasts for only a 
minute or so.

One known issue with network connection state was caused by 
some of the IE7 beta packages during this year 2006. If,

Would be nice if it was posible to use a SQL database 
for storing the feeds instead of xml files, its 
unusable slow when having a huge feed list, using a

With resposiveness of the system sometimes not very 
good, it is way too easy for a click of a browser-
window-tab to be interpreted as a double-click.  
Since the action of a double-click on the tab itself 
is to close the tab, this results in the tab-window 
being closed.  Since there is no browsing history 
maintained in RSSBandit, it's nearly impossible to 
resurrect the window.

Please remove the close-window-tab behavior 
associated with the double-click of the tab.

The fact that the browser tab closes is what destroys the 
history for that tab.  Once the tab is closed, there is no 
way to access the history for that tab (right?).

As for the double-click to close tab being desired, 
perhaps a simple config option?  I can tell you that there 
are dozens of ways to close a tab, I certainly won't miss 
the one that is easiest to do accidentally :)

Any browser pages accessed ONLY in RSSBandit on a tab do 
NOT appear in the IE history.

Mhm. This was a feature we build in some time ago for 
users familar with tabbed browsers like Firefox etc. They 
WANTED that feature, so how should we go?

Also there IS abrowsing history, maintained per browser 
tab. All links you visited should also be found in the 
normal IE history for the current day.

On two occasions I've noticed (becasue I wanted to 
paste the URL into an email) that the URL displayed in 
the Browser toolbar was not in-sync with the page 
displayed in the active tab.

I have yet to reproduce this by proactive testing, but

I think it happens when you switch tabs while a new tab is 
opening and loading. Or at least then.

I get this bug quite often, as I tend to have many tabs 
open. The displayed URL is one of another tab.

(btw: the feed is valid and so is the URL)

The URL is:
http://www.foo.bar/ShowFeed?value=%24xyz%5B%2F%2FName%21%3D%22%22%5D

and the Bandit makes it to:

http://www.foo.bar/ShowFeed?value=$xyz%5B//

and cuts the rest. So it is obvious that the link isn't
working anymore since there is alot missing for the
parameter value.

What do you mean exactly by the 'search for feeds' feature? 
The feed auto-detection while browsing the web? Or the 
Subscription Wizard?

For blogs.msdn.com it should detect now (fixed at CVS) the 
relative url (a recently fixed bug) provided by '<link 
rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="Front 
Page News (RSS 2.0)" href="/MainFeed.aspx"  />', while I 
don't have problems with blogger.com blogs (referencing 
absolute urls in <link rel=.../>).

In the options dialog box, I've set the "Remove items 
older than" value to 5 days.
Anyway, no item was removed.
I have to truncate the feeds from time to time 
manually...

Summary: Toolbars DON'T keep STATE from one session to another

Toolbars appear to have random active/deactivate 
states from one loading session to another.  (1) Turn 
ON "Main Tools" and "Browser Tools" in session; (2) 
quit via "Close [X]" in title bar; (3) Either (A) turn 
off system or (B) reload; (4) Next time RSS Bandit is 
loaded the state of the toolbars might be ON or most 
likely will be OFF.  (5) Behavior is consistent -- 
problem is FREQUENT (6) XP SP2

probably low priority, but: may be worth slickening the
look of the icon and splash screen, and make them
consistent (smiley face for icon and space theme for
the splash?)

Summary: channel icons

Initial Comment:
A feature I'd like to see in RSS Bandit is the
possibility to show channel icons in the Feed
Subscriptions window.
Other RSS readers like NewzCrawler and NetNewsWire (see
screenshot) have this feature.

I don't know if the existing RSS specifications provide
the functionality to show these icons, but I think it
would be quite useful in terms of usability to use both
text and icons for channels.
These icons are very recognizable, much more so than
just a name.

A possible implementation would be to get the URL of
the favicon icon from the channel and download this
icon when subscribing to the feed/channel.

By using channel icons each channel gets a unique "face".
