we have time_t defined as a 4 bytes data type?
I have no easy access to 64-bits Windows, unfortunately,
so I can not test this.
(Something I ought to do is add a test for "long long int":
this is not supported by older C compilers and might lead
to incorrect results on 64-bits Windows ...)
