If the command set is pretty much the same, then hopefully we can patch
the existing driver to control the new cameras as well. The easiest thing
would be to add a Player configuration file option to tell the driver
which kind of camera is in use. Or is there a way to auto-detect the
camera type in the driver?
If anybody gets this working, please send me a patch.
Btw, so far we've been exploiting only a tiny portion of what those
expensive Sony cameras can do (i.e., pan, tilt, and zoom). Does anyone
see a need to expose more of their functionality (e.g., color/motion
tracking) via Player?
