This is a very problematic bug, I've reopened the previous bug.

You can use the debugging system to see what's going on in the
background. Run pitivi like this:
This will show all errors and warnings from GStreamer (useful), and
all debug messages from pitivi.
I am getting a segfault, which is even worse... Can you open a bug
with your findings ?

It would help a lot if you could test pitivi some more and report
all the problems you find, or things that don't seem right.
