we have msgid: "me is using Gaim v%s."
If someone translates first word ("me") from this, then 
/devug version
command will not work - at least in jabber conferences. 
So it may be good, to put warning for translators, or split this string into
translatable, and non-translatable parts.

This string, like the debug logs, should not be translatable at all.

Are you sure those programs' names are not translated in themselves as
well?  I know that people generally have differing ideas on this, and=20
making them translatable satisfies both worlds (i.e. those who don't
want to translate them just copy them over).

For Serbian, most of them would be at least transcribed to Cyrillic
(one would not lose any of the meaning, yet they would be readable to
everyone).

It would be helpful to merge this page with README in po/
subdirectory. Now both README and translations.php are incomplete and
don't mention each other. Now I've added additional info to my
Lithuanian translation submitted earlier today, as translation.php
asks.

I had forgotten that file existed.  I have merged the two files, and
the same info should now be contained in each.

I committed a fix. However, I didn't commit your extra space, as I don't
see how that's useful... For me, there is nothing before the
"Conversation with..." line that the history plugin prints.

Yes, there is a comment in the source to that effect. We don't want that
section translated.

Ok, the space was not good in this string. The problem only occurs if=20
both the history and the timestamp plugins are enabled. Please commit=20
the attached patch for the timestamp plugin. I tested all combinations=20
(no plugin, only timestamp plugin, only history plugin, both timestamp=20
and history plugin). In the case of "only timestamp plugin" there is an=20
extra space but you don't see it. It's interesting to see that the order =

of the timestamp and "Conversation with..." strings depends on the load=20
order of the plugins. You can test this if you load and unload the=20
plugins in the plugin dialog.

By the way: We discussed about time formats some time ago (Subject:=20
Translatable strftime() format strings?). I thought we agreed that it's=20
good to mark the time formats of strftime() with translation markers=20
"_()". Unfortunately we also found some problems with character set=20
conversations. After restarting Gaim there is a good order: 1) timestamp =

from the timestamp plugin, 2) "Conversation with..." from the history=20
plugin.

Why there are so much strftime() time format strings still not marked=20
with translation markers? Look at plugins/timestamp.c or=20
plugins/timestamp_format.c for instance. I think we are not consequent=20
here. But I'm also unsure, if we have enough time to test changes in=20

In timestamp_format.c, we're emulating an exact format string for
backwards compatibility reasons. I'm not going to mark that for
translation without a very compelling reason, and in that case, we'll
need to reword the pref to remove the "traditional Gaim" wording.

In timestamp.c, I assumed that format string was to specifically emulate
iChat, which is why I didn't mark it for translation. It doesn't matter
to me much either way, as I don't use the plugin.

I've made a different fix (to the history plugin). I'm adding a <BR>
before the history plugin text if there is already something in the
conversation. I checked gtkconv.c before I made this change and we do
the same thing there, so I copied that code.

"Property descriptions" can freely be disabled, IMHO.  They are not
useful, and are only visible in a prospective "GObject class browser",
and I am not sure that such a thing exists.  They will not be seen by
users.  This is the main reason we split this in Gnome (so translators
know that they don't need to translate this for full Gnome support).

All strings marked with P_ are such "property descriptions".  Other
strings are actually useful.

I suggest you leave that to translators themselves, even if you keep
the strings.  Providing a tip like this should be enough.

That's a bit complicated, even if intltool supports it somewhat, it
may get ugly (you'll probably have to do some Makefile hacking anyway).

seems like a compatibility problem or a missing

That page ceased to be an HTML file some months ago (it's now
an XML file). Perhaps Konqueror can't handle raw XML. I was
also completely confused when it first switched to XML because
my browser (w3m) also could not handle raw XML.

Yes, it should. Thanks for noticing. If anyone reading this can easily change
this to the fi.po, please do. Otherwise I'll just correct it to my own fi.po and
post a translation patch closer to the 5th of March (in case there will be some
string change still during the freeze period or something).
