There's a script in the Plugin Tracker that's outdated, and I don't
know if the IRC Extras plugin has been brought up to date with the API,
so I'll just recommend the cheap trick I use :). Add your IRC user to
your buddy list (and now with Contacts, you can stow it away under
another buddy Contact), and then set up a Buddy Pounce for that user --
right-click, "Add Buddy Pounce." Choose the 'Send Message' option, and
in the box for the message, enter "/msg NickServ identify
your_password", and then be sure to choose "Save pounce after
activation." Alternatively, you could set up a Buddy for NickServ,
and set the pounce to "identify your_password", but I think having
NickServ on my buddy list is pretty useless once I've logged on. Either
way, as soon as the buddy's presence is detected by Gaim, you will be
identified to NickServ (and yes, you will get one or two new
conversation
windows, which is why a plugin is the more desirable way to go).
Cheers,
John
P.S. As crufty as this is, I'm going to cc it to gaim-devel lest it
actually be helpful to someone. That, or maybe someone will get the
incentive to update or make a functional plugin to do this :).
