Use Oscar intead of TOC.  TOC is old, and broken, and ugly.  AOL doesn't
support it.

i just upgraded to .59 and i am getting an error when i try to log onto
my Yahoo messenger account.. it is saying "usename has been signed off:
Unable to read". any ideas on that one?

There have been several third-parties that have made their own api's,
but then I guess their interest in the project dwindled.  We are
currently working on our own "official" spec and code to impliment it.

Of course--but probably, the UI will just happen alongside the
API--that's just the way things evolve.  The protocols are easy, anyway.

The sourceforge forums are so clumsy to use--so are the trackers and
whatnot.  It really has a terrible interface, I think... I don't know
how they make money off of it.  Here is good if you want to make sure
everyone gets the message--if you just want to talk to anybody, try
#gaim.

Transfer Interface on a low priority. I think Rob
Flynn also made similar comments.

Luke: oscar protocol info for file xfer is incomplete.

I think when I get some free time, I'd do the last
part - packet capturing to reverse engineer the
protocol.

I can't say for sure, but i really doubt that there will be a separate
release of libfaim from gaim. interested parties can just pull the
directory from the cvs any time they want to.

Several people have looked at it at various times. i believe werdna in
#gaim is working on it for one of the protocols now.

File transfer isn't wanted by any of our developers. Naturally, being
volunteers, we work on things that interest us first. file transfer is
also kinda complex, you can't just add file transfer for one protocol,
though you can add support for file transfer to a single protocol. that
sounds contradictory: we don't allow gtk to be in a protocol's code.
Because of this, to implement file transfer, someone would have to write a
generic file transfer interface, then code to talk to to the protocol
plugin (for the purposes of development, oscar and toc are plugins because
they can be compiled as such), then code in the protocol plugin(s) of your
choice to make use of that interface. this 3 part proceedure is more than
most people are willing to consider doing.

this is the other part that makes file transfer hard for someone to just
start coding. for oscar, there are incomplete docs at aimdoc.sf.net and
 http://www.kingant.net but for the most part, you will have to reverse engineer
the protocol. and you will have to work in terms of packet captures to
debug.

several started it. i don't THINK anyone is currently working on it, but
i'm not possitive. people tend to disappear once starting ft.

	Okay...yep, the Unknown Error occurs when Gaim attempts to retreive Inbox info from the server. The server has problems with this when the email address used to subscribe to the msn service was a non @hotmail.com or @msn.com or @passport.com account.   A check for this case was put in CVS..so 0.59 should hopefully work for you.   Thanks for the help.

Yes .. definatly. The solution, deleting my buddylist did help, but the
i had to reorganize the whole thing and thats not pretty.
