This is a bug in phpMyAdmin. My MySQL database user has no password, and is thus locked. I entered no password with allow no password enabled, and I get this error:

Login without a password is forbidden by configuration (see AllowNoPassword)

It is a bug. What's wrong?

Look for AllowNoPassword in Documentation.html for an explanation, and
change the setting in config.inc.php to allow it.

i use the danginx plugin on centos 5.8 (nginx for directadmin)
 after reinstall mysql , phpmyadmin shows error when to login in large databases (110mb) :
 502 Bad Gateway

 when i disable the danginx ,error Connection closed by remote server shows!

 any solution?!

Greetings,
I'm trying to set the configuration in order to support multiple servers, extend the cookie time, etc... and I can't find a way to do so.
Tried the setup way, and also the manual configuration of config.inc.php but it seams it doesn't care about that file.

Can you please give us a hint on how to fix this?

It's possible that your distro has modified phpMyAdmin to use a
config.inc.php located elsewhere, why don't you contact your distro support
about it?

Two separate versions of phpmyadmin on two different ec2 instances each stopped connecting for me today.  Nothing changed for passwords for either version.  Errors indicate it might be a proxy or firewall setting.  I am not using a proxy server and have not made firewall changes.  Any suggestions to troubleshoot?
