Postscript calendar program

Hi there,

the german Linux-News-Site http://www.pro-linux.de published a short article 
about pcal:

Also, in the near future there will be some Scribus-calendar-templates 
where the calendar-part is created with pcal ;-)

The "page access count" for the main 'pcal'/'lcal' website hit a new record high for one day of 442 (previous record was 269) the day after your article was published, so I think it's safe to say that you've effectively introduced quite a few new faces to the wonderful world of 'pcal' (and 'lcal' too). :^) Nice job! I'm completely new to pcal and this list and I have a question: I not 
realy understand the format of .calendar-file (yes, I read the 
man-page), are there any examples on the net?

I don't know of any examples on the 'Net, but you don't need to go any further than the 'pcal-4.10.0.tgz' file itself! :^) Check the 'examples' directory, which contains various 'calendar_*.txt' files (where the '*' represents the 2-letter language code for many of the languages supported by 'pcal'). Judging by your domain, I'm guessing that 'examples/calendar_de.txt' might be useful. :^) That directory also contains 'pcal-cfg.txt' with several (English) examples and explanations of many of the entries that can be placed in a 'pcal' configuration file (sometimes also referred to as the "calendar file" or the "date file"). I just tested this and found that any event specification in a 'pcal' configuration file without the trailing "\n" (newline) doesn't work! Interesting... I've never noticed that before. I'll add that to the list of things to fix (if it's practical) in the next release. I've just released the new version of 'pcal' -- 4.10.0:

Version 4.10.0 of 'pcal' includes support for Danish, Dutch, Polish, and 
Romanian.

Like the very-recent 'lcal' release, it also fixes a couple of timezone bugs 
and provides other minor fixes and benefits, including the fixes for some 
problematic Cygwin and Solaris environments.

Please give it a try sometime and let me know if you see any problems.

My thanks to Lalit Chhabra, who pointed out a flaw in the timezone 
handling of 'pcal' which allowed me to fix that bug and another bug, in both 
'pcal' and 'lcal'.

And thanks to everyone else who pointed out various problems or provided new 
language support!

Version 2.0.0 of 'lcal' includes a new 1-page, uncompressed, odd-days-only 
format that I think will be useful.

It also fixes a couple of timezone bugs and provides other minor fixes and 
benefits.

Furthermore, now that it's a separate SourceForge release (i.e. not combined 
with the obsolete pcal-4.7.1) it should be easier to find since it's not 
scrolled off the main 'Files' page.

Please give it a try sometime and let me know if you see any problems.
