Osage - Persistence Plus XML

Hi,

I'm forwarding some links -- that Ralph Schaer sent me
-- to articles on java-xml data binding by Brett
McLaughlin (enhydra/lutris).  Brett's explanation is
easy to understand, and his approach is simple.

It's relevent to osage because, probably, Quick will

The new query results code uses the driver's
conversions instead of relying on getObject().  

Using getObject() required special handling for fields
of type text in MySQL.  Binary had to be converted to
String.  Now, it's just getString().

I'll test this on MySQL this weekend.

Hi,

There's some preliminary support for query cache in
CVS.  It's unlimited now, but I plan to add count and
time limits to it.

It is configured in the class map by adding a "cache"
element.  This element follows the key generator.

I would appreciate any suggestions for improvements on
implementation.  It's not much code.  It's implemented
in Query and the QueryResult subclasses.  The execute
method determines if it can use cache for the query.

I believe it's most useful for static data or tables
that don't change frequently.  In, the product example
it's likely that the group table is fairly static.
