Yahooo!!!!!! Way to go, Paul. If there's anything I can do, please let me
know. Do you want me to try to work with Sourceforge to do a signature DB
Email me the code and I'll see if there's something I can do there.

Subject: [Openantivirus-discuss]SignatureDB - AntiVirus program
Good evening all (from Australia)
Well, I think I've finally done it! yes, I've created an engine
suitable to be used for signature detection in files, ala, AntiVIRUS :)
Though I've not formally finished the program (ie, I dont yet have a
README/INSTALL/FAQ etc) I do have an operational program.
Things which are lacking include...
. a signature database (well, that figures)
. various user-nicety files
The WWW site is already setup, albiet no active download.
I am proposing to allow signature-file-database downloads using wget, and
only having to download the updates. Differential updates can be
downloaded because each signature gets a unique-monotonically-ascending
KEY/ID in a database, so, the end-user need only create a wget call like...
The engine used is a b-tree like form, with the engine building the tree
from the text file containing the signatures on each call. Search time is
not drastically increased with an increase of signatures, (due to b-tree
The source is availble on request from me, though I thought I should at
least let people know about this before I go public with it..
the current WWW site is...
NOTE - this is origianlly intended to be used as a Virus-Hoax, spam,
chainletter blocking engine (as apposed to a true AntiVirus program), but
obviously it can be extended.
