I can't figure out how to solve this kernel crash.
System: SuSE 9.1, linux kernel: 2.6.6 (with 4K stacks disabled), Wireless
card: Xterasys XN-2411b, Chipset: ADM ??? (same as Realtek 8180), driver
Realtek 8180 XP driver, ndiswrapper 0.8 (built on the laptop, same compiler
as kernel) as kernel, laptop is IBM thinkpad 380XD (don't think you need
that... but just in case).
OK, now for my problem: sometimes (not always, but most of the time
eventually) after I load the ndiswrapper module the kernel crashes, here are
what I think are relevant messages. BTW, I'm typing it since I don't have net
access on the laptop (not yet;)
kernel: wlan0: ndiswrapper ethernet device 00:e0:98:bd:18:96 using driver
ifup: No configuration found for wlan0
kernel: Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address
kernel: printing eip:
kernel: *pde = 00000000
kernel: Oops: 0000 [#1]
EIP: 0060:[__crc_ide_end_request+1195971/1253938] Tainted: P
Some more things talking about EIP: and then:
if you need more... I will give more-BUT, I don't want to type it all out to
find that it was just something I did a little wrong.
