Thanks, I did just try the gecko-mediaplayer. I was putting it off because I recently removed all remnants of GNOME for no reason but I seen again some where that it required GMOME-PLAYER - but after looking at it closer; I read it doesn't require the GNOME Library so I gave it a go, sure enough it works just like the original mplayerplug-in - probably better - Great stuff, Thanks. --- On Wed, 4/17/13, Kevin DeKorte <kde...@gm...> wrote: From: Kevin DeKorte <kde...@gm...> Subject: Re: [Mplayerplug-in-devel] MPlayerPlug-in won't compile without xpidl To: mpl...@li... Yes it does work, but mplayerplug-in has not been maintained for quite some time. I would recommend you look into gecko-mediaplayer Typically, you use the embed tag like this <embed src="rtsp://host/path" height="320" width="200" /> There is a whole website here: http://mplayerplug-in.sourceforge.net/index.php > 2) I installed the plugin on Ubuntu 8.04 with apt-get and Firefox > is configured to play videos with mplayer but still the > totem-plugin is used when opening an mpeg video file (not a stream) > with Firefox. Is deleting the totem plugin from the > plugin-directory of Firefox a solution to this issue? Ubuntu 8.04 is very very old (5 yrs) and so I'm surprised you are still using it. In some cases the totem-plugin may need to be removed (probably a package just for that part). Hi! My name is Chris and I have some questions about the Firefox mplayerplug-in. Since I'm not so familiar with this plugin the questions are of a more general nature: 1) Can I use the plugin for playing in HTML pages embedded live video-streams (RTP/RTSP). And if it is possible, how would I do this? I found the option "rtsp-use-tcp=[0|1]" so I guess there should be something possible? 2) I installed the plugin on Ubuntu 8.04 with apt-get and Firefox is configured to play videos with mplayer but still the totem-plugin is used when opening an mpeg video file (not a stream) with Firefox. Is deleting the totem plugin from the plugin-directory of Firefox a solution to this issue? Thanking you in anticipation Best regards Christoph Jacob |

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 S.OUK, You might try a newer version of gecko-mediaplayer/gnome-mplayer 0.9.9.2 is over 18 months old at this point and several improvements have been made. I actually tried your site here on my machine and the video quality seems good to me. I have attached a screen shot to show you. I'm currently using the version from SVN (almost 1.0.5). Hi kevin, Thank you for your help. My system is Linux Lucid Puppy 5.2 Firefox-4.0b8 mplayerplug-in is now gecko-mediaplayer 0.9.9.2 To see the streaming is ok but it's alway use tcp (1755) and not use udp. If i can use udp, i can get the better quality (up to 480k). about the mms, I can't use mms:// , I need to passe by http web page. I contacted the web streaming administator, the thing that he can help me is to use windows media player plugin on windows and check use port and protocol (rtsp/udp use ports 7000-7007). I make the test on Windows, it very fine but my problem, I'm on linux. here is the web site link http://live.mekongtv.net, hope that you can help me. Thank again.
