Mondo Rescue

You can do a backup, use mindi to boot and restore, then you are done.

Mindi is a linux distro, small and mainly just for mondo, but still a distro.

there are tags on files about when they change. one tag is about
change time and date while another is about access... you can delete
any file that was created below a mondo or mindi folder in temp. the
mindi folder in /root/ is safe to dump after you decide if you need
the Mindi ISO in there.

/var/cache/mondo-archive

You should be able to delete any/all files under your /tmp directory.

No.  deplist.txt lists those files that are to be included in mindi's tgzs.
To have a particular module available at mindi boot time, add it to
'EXTRA_MODS' is the mindi executable (it's a bourne shell script).  That
should make it available when needed.

mondo doesn't clean up temp files very well on my system either.  So i 
don't think you are doing anything wrong.

Running mondo-2.02_cvs_20040714-1rht9 on two systems.  One one machine I
specify tmpdir and stratchdir using -T and -S switches.  Mondo doesn't clean
up.  On the other, I don't specify and mondo cleans up.

Will somebody else try running mondo without the -T and -S switches and
report whether the cleanup happens.

I'm trying to test it on my system and I'm wondering if you don't specify 
the -T and -S, where would mondo put the temp files at? Let me know and I'll 
run a test w/ out the options and see if it cleans up after it's done.

mondo makes some kind of intelligent choice about where to put 
temporary files.  I noticed on one system that mondo used a second hard 
drive for temp space, which seemed pretty clever since the second drive 
was excluded from the backup, and it had lots of free space on it.  You 
might have to peruse the source to see what algorithm it uses to 
determine the location, or just do a find operation after making your 
backup.

My understanding of the situation is that mondo will use the suitable (ie.
supporting UNIX symlinks etc) filesystem with the largest amount of free
space.

Eg. 
# df -h
Filesystem            Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda2             719M  234M  449M  35% /
/dev/hda6             9.2G  648M  8.1G   8% /var
/dev/hda7             9.2G  3.5G  5.3G  40% /usr
/dev/hda8              22G  179M   20G   1% /home
/dev/hdb2             230G   41G  178G  19% /mnt/backup
/dev/hda1             160M   15M  137M  10% /boot

/mnt/backup has the largest amount of free space so mondo uses that.  If I
filled up /mnt/backup, mondo would start using /home instead.

Do a 'df -h' and see where you think they'll go...

No I want the Winbox to be the server serving over NFS.
i.e. assume the win box is Earth and the linux box is Venus, I want:

[root@... root]# mount -t nfs earth:/tmp /tmp/earth

I tried installing the NFSServer package in Cygwin and I setup an 
/etc/exports file, but I can't find portmap  or any of the rpc programs 
to actually read the file and create the NFS shares.
