It's fine to standardize, but I think it's not all that important
actually - if we're keeping our variables scoped fairly tightly, it's
not too difficult to follow. Conversely, if we need to use a naming
convention throughout the testing code to make it followable, then
someone who doesn't know the testing code very well might have a hard
time following it.
