Except that, if you checked the mingw-get release notes, you would know
that pre-install, post-install, pre-remove, and post-install scripting
has been supported since the first of the 0.5 release series, which was
released in April 2012; as the above indicates, the scripting language
is not shell -- it is lua.
That said, I will not comment w.r.t. integration with mgwport; AFAIAC,
that is a dead horse. I've never liked it, I don't use it, I've never
endorsed it, and I don't support it. Chuck, who provided it, hasn't
been active here for several months; I've no idea what future plans, if
any, he has for maintaining it.

I guess you're missing the lua scripting hooks, in your XML catalogue.
You'll need to show me that, if you'd like me to comment further; I will
not go searching in your tarballs for it.
