[MiKTeX] Problem with map files

Hi,

I've recently installed a fresh miktex 2.9 64-bit on my notebook (install
option "for all users"). I copied my local tree on a second volume and
included it in the root folders, refreshed fndb. On the command line I
invoked "initexmf -u" and "initexmf --mkmaps" which should update my
pdfTeX.map file according to the settings in updmap.cfg. But unfortunately
nothing happens.

Does something changed since v2.8? What am I doing wrong?
(my updmap.cfg is located in
users/uli/appdata/roaming/miktex/2.9/miktex/config)

BTW I did the same procedure over and over again with v2.8 without any
problems ...

At first run 

updmap --verbose > updmap.log

then check in the log if updmap is finding your cfg.

[MiKTeX] Problem in bulding power point with Mik Tex 2.9

I always build my power point files for presentation by LaTeX. But after installing new Mik Tex 2.9 I faced to a problem.

When I build my pdf  files all of them have this problem: the write margin in bigger than usual and the left margin is cut.
I don't know how I can fix this problem.
I look forward to your positive response because in the following week I have a seminar and I should present it by Power point.
And my original paper is in LaTeX format.Thank you in advance

I'm assuming you are using beamer. (*Not* PowerPoint.)
1. Make sure you have the **most recent** versions of beamer and geometry.
2. Post a minimal example that fails (e.g., a single slide).

Having MikTeX 2.7 up and running, I Recently installed MikTeX 2.9, as the 
README said I could have both running side by side. Well, that wasn't 
quite so, as I encountered some mysterious errors with MikTeX 2.7 that I 
hadn't seen before. I couldn't verify that they had anything to do with 
KikTeX, but to be safe I uninstalled MikTeX 2.9 again, and got an 
appropriate 'all done' message.

But now, while sleuthing my errors, I finally got the bewildering message
         "etex.exe could not be started because
          MikTeX209-pdftex.dll couldn't be found" .

Why (and how) does mikTeX 2.7 look for a MikTeX 2.9 file, with MikTeX 2.9 
being "completely and successfully uninstalled" ???

Does anybody have a suggestion where
Hercule Poirot should look further?
