I'm having trouble getting either MFT or Weave to work. To start off, when I
MFT with no arguments so that it will print it's usage, it gives every
appearances of having crashed: I'm asked if I'd like to send an error report
to Microsoft. Now, they it *does* print some usage information first, but
it's really strange looking:
> Usage: mft inputfile changefile stylefile outputfile. (l.0)
as is that printed by Weave:
> Usage: weave inputfile changefile outputfile. (l.0)
> (That was a fatal error, my friend.)
I mean, why is the changefile mandatory? Why can't it infer a default output
filename like most other utilities?
Furthermore, passing an empty changefile doesn't help, even though page 10
of the WEB manual says "The change file consists of zero or more 'changes'";
instead, I get a message about a read error:
E:\home\tex>weave mf.web null.ch mf.tex
> This is WEAVE, Version 4.4 (MiKTeX 2.9)
> weave: Read operation failed.
E:\home\tex>mft E:\Tools\miktex-2.9\metafont\misc\modes.mf null.chE:\Tools\mikt
> ex-2.9\mft\plain.mft modes.tex
> This is MFT, Version 2.0 (MiKTeX 2.9)
> mft: Read operation failed.
For the record, I'm using MiKTeX portable (which is (based on) 2.9 beta).
