It appears that one more reboot convinced my system to start working.
All done now.

Subject: Accent remote help
I've done a search through the mail-archives and found that I've been
barking up the wrong tree trying to get this device to work with
lirc_serial, so im now using lirc_sir.
But, im getting nothing with irrecord.
Any suggestions on what steps to take to debug this issue?
When i do a insmod lirc_sir, i get the following in /var/log/messages
Dec 19 22:21:15 mythfrontend kernel: lirc_dev:
Dec 19 22:21:15 mythfrontend kernel: lirc_sir: I/O port 0x03e8, IRQ 4.
Dec 19 22:21:15 mythfrontend kernel: enable_irq(4) unbalanced from =
Dec 19 22:21:15 mythfrontend kernel: lirc_sir: Installed.
irrecord times out with:
irrecord: no data for 10 secs, aborting
irrecord: gap not found, can't continue
As you can see from the above, lirc_sir detects the I/O port with a addr =
0x03e8, but the device isnt there as dmesg shows
[root@... log]# dmesg | grep ttyS0
ttyS0 at 0x03f8 (irq =3D 4) is a 16550A
Is this a problem, and if so, what do I have to do to change this line. =
tried adding :
options lirc_sir irq=3D4 io=3D0x3f8 auto_sense
to /etc/modules.conf as per lirc_serial, but with no effect.
Any help would be good, as I can use my mythtv box without the remote!
