I am proud to announce the first release of lirc-config (name can be changed).
Since it is so small (about 4kb) it's attached here. I will put it online
soon as well.
What is it?
Lets imagine that a new user logs on to his computer, and he want to
use his remote control. Now lets assume that the distribution has support
for LIRC out of the box (Mandrake 9.0 has some kind of out-of-the-box support
for that). Now that user needs to RTFM for each program he uses and see if
it supports LIRC and he needs to configure each program. He also needs to
learn LIRC config file format.
Now imagine that this is done automagically. The user logs in, and if a config
file is not found it is automagically generated for the programs the user has
This package is supposed to do that.
Please read the readme inside the bzip2, since I do not provide an install
script, (but it will change in future).
I ask people which want to help, install this script and report to me. If you
have a new programs that I don't support yet, please send the config file to
me and which control remote you use.
Thank you, and sorry if I filled your mail box with something unwanted...
Happy new year,
