CVS is a system for maintaining differences.
libirman provides userland support for the irman universal infrared
reciever which is sold online for about $20. I have one, but for no good
reason, I don't actually use it with linux - I just keep using my crappy
Packard Bell reciever dongles. (I used to use the irman with some dvd
software on my windows system, until i bought a regular dvd player)
It decodes signals in hardware, so it's better in environments where
interrupts may be blocked. If you don't have an irman, you don't need
libirman. (You'd know if you did, it'd be a black box that says "IRMan"
