In actual news, we got it working yesterday.. and we're not sure how ;)
We couldn't even get the serial stuff working under linux (both ends) via
minicom before, all sorts of odd interference.. Before we eventually
noticed that on the netbook end, there was a getty running on ttySA0, and
on the other end, ncpd was running! turning both those off fixed it, then
rebooting gave sane output from bookboot over serial, yay!
Now to attempt to get the kernel to output to serial too, and not just
