I thought about that, but is it possible to detect when the user has opened a
message to read it? I'm using the qt-gui plugin, so ideally I would like the
scroll lock LED to turn on when I hear the incoming-event sound, and turn off
again when I click on the user's name to read the message/url/etc, assuming
there are no more messages waiting.
Turning the LED on would be easy, but I imagine getting it to turn off at the
right time would be the hard part - can a plugin be notified when another
plugin retrieves a message? (assuming the qt-gui plugin doesn't retrieve the
message until the user wants to read it.)

I've had one response from someone else who liked the idea! ;-)
