Hi, After a few monthes, here comes a new version of a52dec and liba52. The main new feature is that the library should now be fully reentrant. The a52dec test program also has a few additional features, including win32 output, al file output, gain control, and a few portability fixes. Cheers, -- Michel "Walken" LESPINASSE Is this the best that god can do ? Then I'm not impressed. |

Hi, I'm sending this email to announce the latest release of a52dec and liba52, version 0.7.3 On the liba52 side, new features include speed improvements in imdct.c (this boosts the overall speed of liba52 by 40% to 80% depending on the streams and the output mode), as well as a few important bug fixes (in particular, the previous release had one known case of memory smash which was really nasty). On the libao side, the new version adds support for IRIX al sound output, macintosh .aif file output, and fixes a few bugs (endianness, CRLF conversion) in the existing .wav file output. Some of the features I want to add in liba52 didnt make it this time, but heh, you have to draw the line somewhere. In the future I'd like to add a simpler-to-use API, and maybe a few more speed optimizations (parsing, SIMD optimizations ?) Cheers, -- Michel "Walken" LESPINASSE Is this the best that god can do ? Then I'm not impressed. |

Hi, As the 0.7.0 release has brought in more testers, I got several emails about bugs it contained. The most embarassing ones are that liba52 did not compile with gcc 3.0, and that a52dec.c was putting "flags" and "sample_rate" on the stack instead of a static - thus leading to uninitialised variables and undefined behaviour - it just happened to work fine, but it was quite fragile. For good measure I also threw in some mlib fixes - I got it to work on my personal machine, so I can now fully test and support this. Should I call this a brown paper bag release ? Regards, -- Michel "Walken" LESPINASSE Of course I think I'm right. If I thought I was wrong, I'd change my mind. |

I'm sure noone is on this list yet, but I still have to announce it - a52dec 0.7.0 is released ! It adds the following features: downmix to arbitrary speaker configurations, dynamic range compression, major speedups (2x to 3x), new library interface, rematrixing bugfix, and a higher precision. Get it from our web server at http://liba52.sourceforge.net/ -- Michel "Walken" LESPINASSE Of course I think I'm right. If I thought I was wrong, I'd change my mind. |
