I expect you entered 9/26 as the ending balance date in the startup dialog but 
somehow managed to enter the ending balance of 9/28. Thus KMyMoney only looks 
at transactions prior to this date and therefore the transaction on Monday is 
missing.

It uses all transactions between the start date and the end data 
provided/accepted by the user.

thanks for the explanation, that's the reason, I think. So let me tell 
you some ideas:

In general, the usability/handling of the reconciliation process is 
improveably, so I try to make some suggestions for my own experiences as 
well as the experiences of friends who trying to use KMM on the 
recommondation from me:

After starting the reconciliation wizard it is not very clear to see 
that you are in a reconciliation mode after closing the wizard dialog 
box and returning to the ledgers view. That's irritating beginners very 
much. So it would be very helpful if the reconciliation mode is 
displayed clear to the user, maybe with a big headline, or better: doing 
reconciliation in a separate window. Quicken 2010 does it in a good way: 
you have a reconciliation window, that is split in 2 areas: one area is 
a list with the imported transactions not matched to a transaction. The 
second area is a ledgers view with unmatched and matched transactions. 
To manually match a transaction, you select the imported one in the 
first list and the second transaction to match with in the ledgers list. 
After pressing "match" button the two transactions are matched together 
and the matched transaction disappears in the imported transaction list. 
When there is no offline transaction to match with an imported one, 
there is another button to simply to take over the imported transaction 
as a new transaction in the ledger. In both cases the status field is 
automatically updated to "reconciled". You do that until the first list 
with the imported (and not matched/added) transactions is empty.

That is very intuitive and works fine. The reconciliation handling of 
KMM in the moment is a little bit unclear, because the imported 
transactions are mixed together with the other transactions in one 
ledgers view containing all.


Another point is the reconciliation wizard:

- in my case the ending balance is not automatically set correct. I 
cannot reproduce, why it doesn't work, because normally KMM should get 
the end balance via HBCI, but I have to enter it by hand
- the same thing for the time window of the reconciliation (the problem 
mentioned below): KMM should get this information from the hbci import 
as well, it could simply take the latest transaction as the end date for 
reconciliation, not the current date (today), because it seems that some 
banks sending transactions in advance on weekends or official holidays.

Have you tried hitting the space bar?  That works for me.

Have you tried to just start typing?  Although you don't see the cursor  
in the field, if you just start typing, it puts you in the category  
field.

As you tab out of the last field on the row, you are on the green  
check.  Just hit space there, and you are now on the next row.  It  
might be possible to do in fewer keystrokes, but it's not that bad.   
That's how I often enter split transactions.

Added to CVS HEAD (so it will show up in 1.0.2). No UI though, but tweaking 
the kmymoney2rc file a bit will help. Yours should contain the following line 
somewhere in the [Global Options] section:

stdTransactionFormTabOrder=account,cashflow,payee,amount,category,memo,number,date,state

The default of this setting is

stdTransactionFormTabOrder=account,cashflow,payee,category,memo,number,date,amount,state

The split transaction editor comes a long way and not yet seen a necessary 
overhaul. I am pretty sure, once we have done that it will be much more 
(keyboard) user friendly.  Please don't ask when this will happen. Spare time 
is the limiting factor here.

Hi,

why would one want to change an established name? What's wrong with the name 
"KMyMoney"? 

I think personally it is the perfect name for a *KDE* application which is 
used to manage personal (*my*) finances which is better than MS *Money* ;-)

Hi,

I also agree with Martin I really like the 'KMyMoney' name. When I
said I would like the 'KMoney' name on the KDE4 developer mailing-list
I meant that in case the name is going to be changed. But nevertheless
we should see what the community thinks about the name.

The name KMyMoney would be fine to keep for this KDE personal finance
application (which unlike GNUCash, is not also for small businesses).
But here is a suggestion (from the person who once upon a time suggested
the name Krita (to replace Krayon)):

It is a currency (may become historical if the Euro keeps spreading).

My vote is for KMoney but is sounds like that's not enough of a change to
justify the work required. The My reminds me of My Documents, My Pictures
... which reminds of Microsoft. Plus my wife tells me it should be
KOurMoney:) If the long term goal is to make KMM work better for small
businesses then removing the "My" now makes sense to me.

How about just the short version, KMM?

Or maybe Kwicken or Kwick Books if you want to see if Intuit is paying
attention (and you have some good lawyers).

der Fehler ist gefunden. Es ist nicht wie in
http://www.hbci-zka.de/institute/institut_detail.php angegeben HBCI 3.0 sondern
nur 2.2 ;)
also noch mal komplette gelöscht und neu erstellt und es funktioniert.

KMyMoney is a very good name, I like it.

The "2" in KMyMoney is irritating, especially in combination with any 
version numbers. So delete the 2 and keep KMyMoney.

My guess was right. That problem occurred in 0.9.2 but it has been fixed in
latter versions. Kubuntu is way behind in updating its repositories.
There is a PPA available which you can use to install the latest version:

Also, the Russian translation has been updated in that version, so you can
benefit from that too. Andrei Cherepanov is the Russian translator. I am
sure he can help you if you have difficulties following the instructions in
English.
