From the sound of it, Mozilla 1.0 is about to roll out of the code
factory. I'm going to guess that this is going to generate a lot of
excitement, as it should, but also a lot of queries about the whereabouts
of K-Meleon 0.7.
As you all should know, we are being held up by these 2 Mozilla bugs:
Mozilla coders are aware of these bugs but no recent progress has been
made. Both bugs also include nuggets on getting these fixed.
What is needed now is for someone(s) who can work the code to try and take
a whack at getting these two problems fixed. It's going to require working
with the underlying Mozilla code and is probably going to get messy.
While it is not optimal to diverge from the main Mozilla code, in the case
of a release breaker like these, I don;t see any options. If patches are
worked up, they can be passed along to Mozilla for review and inclusion in
We should also have a discussion about standardizing the resources files
that we are making available for users. Additionally, we'll want to review
all of the current packages to see if they will work with 0.7.
I hope to have the Release Notes ready in the next day or so. Please
review the current FAQ:
and let me know what items we should be including in a FAQ for 0.7 or that
We also need anyone who currently works on code to review the Bugs
database to see what items are outstanding. If an item is going to be
resolved in 0.7, please note that and close out the bug. If there are any
significant bugs that we can get resolved for 0.7, let's get them
done. Otherwise, let's note them for future releases.
Ideally, we'll push out 0.7 before or along with Mozilla 1.0. I don't know
if that is at all possible but it won't happen without a lot of work. If
you can assist at all, please lend a hand.
