I was able to update the CVS/Root files through the hierarchy and do a cvs
update, but I have a script for doing that kind of thing .... EM

Sourceforge has been making some infrastructure improvements to their cvs 
servers.  Hopefully this will improve performance and reduce the lag 
between the developer (ssh) and anonymous (pserver) views of the cvs 
repository.    As part of these improvements, the hostname for checking 
out Jikes RVM from cvs has changed to jikesrvm.cvs.sourceforge.net. So the 
new command is:

        cvs -d 
:pserver:anonymous@... co 
jikesrvm
or
        cvs -d 
:ext:<developer-id>@jikesrvm.cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/jikesrvm co 
jikesrvm
 
If you have a checked out version of jikesrvm,  probably the thing to do 
is to checkout a new one and then copy any local changes you have over to 
the new version.
