jEdit

Hi,

When you click on a particular file's tab (using the BufferTabs plugin), the
tabs seem to rearrange themselves pretty randomly (as well as at certain
other times).

It would be much nicer for the tabs to always be in alphabetical order.  Or
at least remain consistently in whatever order they are currently in.

i hope this doesn't start a war!  or nasty responses!  

i have been using jEdit as my ide for java projects for almost 2 years.
 mostly because i've invested a certain amount of time into it
(learning, plugins, etc), it's comfortable, and i'm running slower
hardware that doesn't handle the big ides out there too well.  oh, and
it's free.

i've been feeling the eclipse and IDEA pressure lately.  (and some
friends are still leaning toward JBuilder)  no one i work with or know
well uses jedit (the last hold out amongst my friends just moved to
eclipse.)  yet, i still use it jedit - and, don't get me wrong, i like
it.  

now, if i upgrade my hardware (i'm already running gentoo linux - so i
probably can't squeeze much more out of this machine), i might have to
check out the latest ides.  it seems more and more contracts are
requesting knowledge of certain ides (not jedit.)  and, i'm wondering
if there a power tools that i should really take advantage of?

i'm just wondering if anyone else is in this boat?  jedit exclusive, or
do you use other ides for different purposes.

i'm sure the folks that have migrated off of jedit are around to
respond to this.  but, i think it would be nice to hear from the
current community.

I asked and got the answer to this once quite a while ago, but 
intervening system crashes necessitated lots of reinstallation and 
reconfiguration, and whatever fix I received and applied got lost, and 
I don't remember what the solution was, so please forgive my asking 
again. (And the list search as SouceForge is not doing it for me...)


Here's the problem: The order of files in the Buffer List plug-in 
display is sorted case-sensitively while the sequencing of files 
associated with the CTRL-UP and CTRL-DOWN key bindings is 
case-insensitive, so in some cases it's hard to navigate by looking at 
the Buffer List and typing CTRL-UP or -DOWN.

Can someone tell me how to make these two things act consistently? I 
don't much care which way it ends up (case-sensitive or 
case-insensitive), but I'd like the two functions to be mutually 
consistent.

QuickNotepad is a demonstration plugin written to show basic usage of 
the plugin API, and it does not concern itself with peripheral issues 
such as this. A real plugin, however, needs to be robust.
