As a note, IceFX comming in the next 1.0.7 release should be using the 
argument as follows:

	icesound -i OSS -s ~/.icewm/sounds

Note the -s infront, also accepted will be:

	icesound -i OSS -s=~/.icewm/sounds

or

	icesound -i OSS --samples_dir=~/.icewm/sounds


It will also come with a manpage (man icesound) and --help screen too.

OSS like in OpenSound System?   What about esound?  Will it be supported as
well?

It was mentioned early on during design stage, but it wasn't quite
clear at that time. It *looks* like the new IceFX will be in CVS according
to the other developers and probably (not sure) committed to the next
IceWM release.

Seriously, I'm manually removing it now till I can figure out how to
configure it not to be displayed on this list.

I spent all night last night handing (stupid) problems with admin issues
which I won't mention here.

Actually, your sig has become quite a puzzle for me.  I can't figure out

Actually, that part I never asked, but from my signals of those who
pointed me during the development of IceFX is that it's a totally revamped
version of IceSound. Corrections?

  It's a lost development tree of icesound done by Christian
W. Zuckschwerdt featuring better support for ESound (the Enlighenment
Sound Deamon, also used by GNOME) and a *dirty* hack allowing to animate
mouse pointers on GUI events like window moves/resizes/app launches...

  Taura was that kind to integrate support for her YIFF Sound System. (Yet
;-) Another sound server taking an aproch similar to X11 to render sound.
Unfortunatly I do not know any applications expect them of Taura's coding
crew which use it.

  According to her mail she also spent some time in cleaning up the
Christian's icesound application. Have to find some time to see what's she
did. At least it's -- contrast to my normal behavior -- in CVS now. And
the new icesound application will be part of the next release of IceWM.

  Maybe there is a volunteer who wants to look into icecursor (the
separate cursor animator) and who wants to finish and synchronize it with
the colored cursor support available in CVS.

Was there GNOME support? I reviewed the IceFX code and I never encountered
any?

I also fixed the Xlib async event handling code that was commented
experimental, I improved that as well so it should exit at the moment it
recieves a exit event from the WM.

Thank you, well YIFF is primarly a game server, if you don't use Linux for
games, then you don't need YIFF, IceFX has compile time options for Y and
ESounD support, so if you are missing one or the other yer still safe.

I *strongly* recommend that you have atleast ESounD, but note I never got
ESounD to work on my computer before, but the code support in the new
IceSound was not changed so it should work for others if it was previously
working.

Yup, fixed about 10 points of major memory leaks and 2 potential buffer
over runs.

These overruns are not serious anyways as they're mostly sprintf()
with statically allocated buffers.

Just don't play a sound file who's path and file name would be greater or
approaching 1024 bytes (which is hopefully unlikly).

Well... if you guys are really nice, maybe I'll look into that next month.
I was a bit caught off gaurd by the unexpected negative responses by a
few about IceSound but I do like IceWM and I would never have contributed
to it if I didn't like it.

That's AFAIK not true. DesktopBackgroundImage overrides
DesktopBackgroundColor, but not the other way. I might be mistaken though.

right. Without imlib it's just xpm files, with imlib it's about everything
that can be called an image.

Yes, I override the color all the time with various images.  There is no need to set the background color to null.

with 1.0.6 I used --with-gnome-menus.
