I found out about Gumstick by accident and I'm rahter pleased that I did. For a project I'm working on I needed to find a pc/computer small enough but capable enough, which limited things down. But didn't find really anything that would have all. I had found something, but it solved somethings and made other more difficult. But your product solve quite a lot of issues. I still have to see if can create a space, that would allow it to function properly, but one step at a time.
My question actually is, if it spossible to ask you, of course not for free, to create small boards, that would use infrared, to communicate, and have some simple connectors, using for example products from Amtel. I have been working related to that one project on an artifical skin, simpler then the one from Nasa, and the Japanes team are working on. My budget is limted, so I have to improvise. Which is why I came up with DPPF and WBEIEWBS.
But in doing so, I do think I created a base that is strong and sturdy enough to allow it do be used for any kind of skin, and other things. That is why I continu working on that Os, because it allows things that the two other artificial skin projects don't, and should have some features that most current os'es don't. The other skin project are either centralised or decentralised. Mine is different in that its both and more. My basic arteficial skin, very basic, uses a centralised system.
My actual question is the following, would be possible for you to look into creating small boards, that would include a snap on infrared communication board, and other small boards that would act as a kind of nodes ? It could be for you more then a one time project, as you can add them to your existing productline. Allowing more possibilities for the ussage of your product. A next step would be the same small boards equiped with bluetooth.

I did not know of you gumstic, and robotix before, but it does seem that we both have been thinkering/working with the same set of ideas, which is perfectly normal.
As for the project, it exist in building two spacecraft models, the Leonardo and Klein Duimpje
but they would be more then mere models, as they would be functional with propulsion, communication, navigation and lots of other stuff. Building them is the first priority. I 'm now considering using your gumstix and robotix for use in other projects as well, one of which is an ornitopther.An airplane that lfies by flapping its wings. In fact your technology has so many advantages that it really has a lot of potiental.
I continu working on the Os. If it intrests you I can share some of the setup with you as it would be Open Source, with a max size of lets say 2 MB.Hopefully so. It may include some novelties in driver setup and communication protocols as well as in the overal way it would be build, as well as its 'x-windows' system. It isn't called like that, but that comes the closest to it. Its name is WBEIEWBS. If it intrest you I'll tell you what it means. It uses/would use a communication protcol familly called DPPF, and possibly in the future DPPF Advanced.
