Well, Don, I don't know what that did but it sure fixed my problem!
Thanks so much for the help. I really like the updated gramps that goes
with gnome 2. I usually use KDE and when I logged into gnome I got a
mess of error mssgs that went away after I followed your instructions.
I did have some problems with Nautilus and a few other programs with the
upgrade as you pointed out.
