A few more pieces of info will help answer your question:
What model Mac are you using?
How does your ADSL provider assign you an IP address? More precisely, do
they use DHCP, PPPoE, or are you lucky enough to have a Static IP?
With that info, it'll be easier to point you in the right direction.
