Hi, this is a query relating to version 1.3.2.

Background:
-----------
Currently updating the phpBB2 integration Mod.
Trying to impliment cookie-less sessions.

Progress:
---------
Session ID being passed through URL as sid using a quick edit to util.php

... where the $userdata['session_id'] comes from the session info created in
phpBB2.


Problem:
--------
The session ID variable is being passed ok from phpBB2 and I can test for it
in most areas.

HOWEVER...

Whenever I try to do any actions that are created as pop-up windows.. the
first popup contains all the correct info, but on submit, the GALLERY
session seems to lose it's session data and as a result the album being
edited isn't referenced and the Album iteration isn't available.

I've managed to nail the issue to the point where...
 /*Load the correct album object */
...is called.
It doesn't succeed because the $gallery->session->albumName variable doesn't
exist (see problem above).


Question:
---------
Can anyone point out how the session code in Gallery works and whether
passing $HTTP_GET_VARS['sid'] (or as it only seems to be pop-ups submitting
forms $HTTP_POST_VARS['sid']) is likely to cause problems...

As far as I know phpBB2 doesn't do more than create its own session without
using php's sessions system so I'm not sure that it should clash the way it
is...


Any pointers, suggestions, no matter how dumb... would be much
appreciated... This has bugged me on and off now for over 8 months.

I had patched my gallery to allow me to link pictures.  It worked okay (onl=
y I=20
didn't have a good way to deal with deletes).  I scrapped the work to wait =

G1 is definitely going away.  I'm spending as little time as possible
on adding new features and focusing my time and energy on G2.  However,
although G2 is actually at a demoable state, it still needs several
key features before it can be called alpha.  And it will be at least
a couple of months after that (not including holiday vacation time)
before it can go beta.  So don't hold your breath :-)

There are very few features that we're not considering for G2.  Because
of G2's modular structure, we should be able to add a new features
by writing new modules.  Hopefully there will be few limitations in
that regard.

Not really.  I keep track in my developer workspace, but I haven't
published a formal list for G2.  Once G2 gets closer to an alpha cycle I'll
get off my butt and publish a real todo list.

On OS X 10.2.2, it frequently hangs.

It doesn't save the gallery URLs or the username/password.

I stopped creating albums with it because the popup menu for the parent was
messed up.

When it works, it's very useful.

I'm not greatly familiar with the design of G2, so forgive my for any
naivete. :)

If G2 will be built over a database, couldn't the
title/summary/keyword/description info be placed into a per language
relation? If the relation exists, the language is supported? <shrug>

Good catch, Beckett!  I've rolled this into v1.3.2-b32.

I hereby declare -b32 to be a release candidate for 1.3.2.  I'll plan
on releasing it on Monday or Tuesday unless any critical bugs show up.

We can only make this part of the setup code if we can guarantee that
it won't cause breakage.  I seem to recall that it's possible to configure
Apache such that if you try to do this override in a .htaccess file it
will cause Apache to prevent any access to files under this directory.
Can any prove that this is not the case?

The IndexIgnore directive adds to the list of files to hide when listing a
directory. File is a file extension, partial filename, wildcard expression=
=20
or full filename for files to ignore.

This will only effect the way it lists the contents of directorys to your
webbrowser, and will not effect whether you can view a specific file or not.

I personally use the Options -Indexes method and it works like a charm, but=
=20
the documentation (http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/core.html#options) seems
to be a little more vague.

Indexes
If a URL which maps to a directory is requested, and the there is no=20
DirectoryIndex (e.g., index.html) in that directory, then the server will=
=20
return a formatted listing of the directory.

it looks to me as though either of these will provide the desired outcome.

Well the only thing I could think of is if "AllowOverride Options" is
not set in the httpd.conf. I've tried that and the images are not
accessible when the override is disallowed.

I'm not too intimate with URL rewriting, so be gentle :) Do you think it
would be possible to rewrite URLs to hide the albums?

Yes, I think that creating a few empty index files (index.php, index.htm,
index.html) should do it in each album directory would be a safe route.
It's much more reliable/preferable to trying to enforce it with .htaccess,
since .htaccess is not globally accepted or obeyed.

This is too large a candidate for 1.3.2, but we could try to get it in
after 1.3.2 ships.

Possible, but not reliable.  You can't count on .htaccess to work.  
Configuration would be a bitch, and may also cause problems if the
user moves his/her albums directory.  Blank index files are a better
route, I think.

I'm half-assedly working on crw (Canon RAW) files.  I found that one could 
select "all files" and choose a file of any type, so that will suffice for 
my testing.
