Hey, I think it's cute. ;) It seems to be related to the default e theme 
in some way (similar buttons). I think what it really needs is for more 
integration so you can really 'lose yourself' in it -- make the main 
menu blue-ish, the iBar and whatever modules the same way, etc. If you 
really wanna go nuts, create a background wallpaper and a matching GTK2 
theme. I have no artistic skills myself, but those are the items that 
make me like a theme, when it is all-encompassing and it feels like it 
dominates the whole desktop experience. GOOD LUCK!!!

it could be a permission problem and ecore cant create a .ecore dir etc.

I get that error If I'm running a WM (doesn't have to be e17) and I tell
it to start e17.  The way I do it involves closing X and using the Xtart
command on my Mandriva box.  Hope this helps.

it's an nvidia driver bug - they use non-standard calls and dont link to the

choose one of these solutions:

1. disbale gl suport in evas.
2. submit bug report to nvidia that their libGL uses xf86vidmode calls without
linking to it and wait for a fix. 3. remove nvidia drivers/libGL etc.
4. add -lXxf86vm to your LDFLAGS environemnt var when building evas.

if you are on x86 you want to stick to gcc 3.x - 4.x has shown a good 10% drop
in speed consistently in benchmarks comapred to 3.3 and 3.4 (same optimisation
options - highest level for my cpu - a p4): -O2 -march=pentium4
-fomit-frame-pointer that will give best results for p4's i have found but on
4.x its 10% slower than 3.x - with -O0 (no optimisation at all) gcc4's code
output is HALF the speed of gcc3.3 and 3.4.

on x86 - beyond some new c feature support, gcc 4.x is a downgrade and if you
care about performance, is not a good idea. i cannot vouch for its correctness
when generating code either, but i'd be inclined to trust the more stable 3.x
series for code correctness - but thats just a hunch/instinct.

you should see no real changes in the gl engine based on compiler as almost all
the work is done in the drivers and hardware. there is not much point
benchmarking it unless u are trying to benchmark gfx cards and their drivers.

you may find you benchmarks are quite low on ppc too:

p4 3.4ghz, nvidia 6600gt agp8x:
  gcc version 4.0.2 20050821 (prerelease) (Debian 4.0.1-6)
  GL:
    # EVAS BENCH: 70.812
  Software X11:
    # EVAS BENCH: 5.642

Fair enough. I was only really expecting Gentoo users to try it out,
since it's easy to switch compilers and not break things for them. Since
I got my powerbook I haven't really had much to do with x86 - apart from
work of course - but I don't have a lot of time for benchmarking there.

I see. Well to be fair, my specs aren't exactly a match for that system.
Clock your CPU back to half-speed ( and ditch the late-model nvidia for
an early-model Radeon ) and we'll see :)

Anyway, I'm just happy that Enlightenment runs at all on my system.
