The initial idea was to follow the example of Affero. They have .org, .ne=

look towards moving away from the use of tables in the display of
content.

Good as xoops and phpnuke, they still need programing.

And perhaps the time has come to a site that needs less programing. A 
site that is more centered in fresh contents and distributed management 
(i.e., more frequent content changes, news syndication, new related 
links/projects).

It is not PHP based. :-(

developer would have the possibility to directly contribute/edit contents.

It will not get simpler then that...

Is it able to handle RSS Feeds? and gives it out an RSS Feed? Thats
important i think.

Are you able to design it with the Care layout? the problem is for
admins the french documentation - its the same if i write only in
german, the most dont understand it. i browsed through the plugin page
for modules... i got some problems to understand it...

I will definitely check out Dr. Antas' 6 suggestions.

I tried out phpNuke and wasn't satisfied with it's capabilities.
Then I tried Xoops and E-Xoops.  I decided on Xoops because it's
extremely easy to install, handles many languages, and the community is
constantly making new modules and porting modules from phpNuke and other
Content Management Systems.

Among the drawbacks, the administration menu doesn't perform totally
well with MacOS X and sometimes you will find an 5 pixel overlap between
the columns when using cheap 15-inch LG monitors (and Win98).  Other
than these conditions, you would probably not need any programming
skills to get it up and running in 10 minutes and publishing news in 10
more.  You can let users register themselves in or add them by hand and
assign passwords according to what you would allow them to do in the
site.

The Xoops community is currently working on the CONTENTS language
switch.  The publisher would be able to select the language of his
publication. ONE server would be able to handle contents for all
languages.  Then, it would be fairly easy to point, say a french domain
to the french contents switch and not mix languages on the same page.

I didn't entirely understand macewan regarding tables.  In the end,
everything internet is some way or another inside a table.  Maybe he
only referred to visible borders around the tables and cells.

I have worked on both and would love to work on this. Probably would like to
hear about what the others want to use, do you want to have only a php based
thing. If we can take a decision on these high level decisions, we can start
in right earnest.

Plone is very simple to deploy but a little tougher to learn (esp for people
who donot know python, atleast this is what I and some others I know
expericened with we first worked with plone).

I am using EasyPHP 1.7, and i placed the unzipped care folder in the "www"
folder of the easyphp, changed the attributes of the folders, the ini_main
file, and inc_remote server "using the Localhost IP. the i try to type
"http://localhost/install/initialize.php" in my address bar i get "File
not found" error. u helped me well with the installation of B1.0.7 version
so please help me with again.

actually care 1.07 is up and running in one hospital, one contract is =

i need more informations about the hospital. Localisation, kind of the
hospital time for migration and so on. Also the costs and did you need
programmers inside the hospital, also some infos about the IT
infrastructure before and after.

When we try to keep track of the various domain names for the care
project it quickly becomes quit confusing as we find:

Could we make an effort to normalize it?
May I suggest that any references to the project should be made to a
single address, something like:

- For the main project: http://www.care2x.org

- For the country mirrors http://www.care2x.xx
     where "xx" would be a letter code from NET country: de, fr, it, pt,
ar, cn, co.uk, etc.

Also, it seems that some contents at the demo site at the "Mary
Hospital" domain need to be more up to date.

At http://www.maryhospital.com/?lang=en one can read:

    "Care2002 beta 1.0.04 released !
    At last, after the long wait, it is now available."

One solution could be to have an automatic pointer to the last version.
Or that fictitious content could be changed to a more neutral and
timeless content.
