Summary: New Flag: SuperDrop (SD)
Initial Comment:
In my opinion, every powerful flag should have also
have a handicap. GM and L, to me, are to powerful,
without limitations. Sure there's CL and ST, but I'd
like to even the score a little.
This new flag will strike fear in the hears of GM and
L tanks. These tanks, won't dare shoot at you, will
probably run from you, and may even turn into the
hired muscle, fighting YOUR enemy tanks for you. This
new flag thus is very powerful. To compensate, the low
budget tanks, tanks with lesser flags, and especially
those with none at all, will find you a tasty morsel.
---
It's simple.
The SuperDrop flag when grabbed, does not change your
tank's characteristics at all. However, when you drop
it (either serendipidously, or when blowed up) causes
all tanks (both friend and foe {and yourself}) to also
unwillingly drop their flags. All of these flags are
sucked up into the ether.
Sure you can always just drop the flag, but I think
the real power is in carrying the thing around,
chasing down L and GM tanks.

What if the flag dropping action only occured within a radius
just slightly less the SW (so that a tank with sw can kill you
and still not lose its flag). And only one tank, the closest
one. And as mentioned it will only happen on death (or
maybe not now that i think about it). hmm.

IT occurs to me that GM and L are also balanced by the fact that (1) GMs don't ricochet and you must be careful not to lose focus and (2) It's rather easy to blow yourself up with your own Laser.

Ok, I updated the code so that the superdrop action ONLY
happens if you get blowed up with the flag. Just dropping
it does not do anything.
Now there is no incentive to casually cause everyone to
lose their flags. Hopefully this alleviate some fears that
it is too powerful. Remember, that the player
really 'gains' no advantage, he just loses his
disadvantage.

I disagree. If I've got
V, A, F, MG, ST, CL, IB, T, N, SH, SR, PZ, G, ID or any of
the bad flags, I don't really care that much if I lose my
flag. Especially if I'm having the snot beat out of me by a
GM or L player. If I can just blow up this tank that
holding the SuperDrop Flag, I can ease my pain. There's
hugh incentive for the lesser flag tanks to kill the
SuperDrop kid, making his life not easy! SD in an odd way
becomes at the same time friend and foe of the power flag
tanks.
The only flags where I'd be really upset would be Laser,
GM, and maybe Shockwave. I can life with these primadonna's
being upset. :)
Plus if I drop the SuperDrop flag at the wrong time, my
teammates may not be particularly happy with me. Makes for
good theater.
It's sort of analogous to genocide, only in a much more
pacifistic way.
While you can make players drop flags, there's no easy way
to 'steal' their flags, as the flags will reappear at
random.
I suppose I could live with Colin's suggestion if we had
too (only L and GM are effected), but i'd recommend playing
with it as is for awhile. I think you'd see the life as a
SD tank isn't all sweetness and light.

I'd suggest the person that shot you looses their flag.

This is a problem... it's way too freakishly powerful (many
would say, more powerful than the flags it's supposed to
protect against). You can run around committing suicide and
robbing everyone else of their flags. There's no point in
chasing down the ultra-powerful tanks because they won't
fight back, making this quite a cheap flag to have. At
least with L and GM, people try to kill you, but with SD,
people with flags won't dare.
Better would be a reduced-scope SuperDrop that only makes
people with GMs and Ls to drop their flags.
