First, I would be very interested in knowing why you are planning
to switch from afbackup to Bacula. I'm not interested in knocking
the alternative programs, but in documenting what users find=20
useful about Bacula, so any input would be appreciated.
To answer your question, the only model that I would say is
"supported" by Bacula is a HP SureStore DAT-40X6, which I have
and thus I can test. However, there are a number of other models
where Bacula users have reported that they work successfully
with Bacula, and I've now added a table that lists them.
I request any Bacula autochanger users to review the table
(link below) and please send me any additions or corrections
or mtx-changer scripts you have. I will add them to the table
and it should be a big help to new users.
I've also added more information on how to test autochangers
with Bacula and particular the two areas where the mtx-changer
script typically needs changing (sleep after load, offline after
Please note, ALL autochangers that currently work with Bacula
use the mtx program through a script called mtx-changer to actually
do the changing. The script simply cleans up the output from
mtx, which is "user" oriented and presents it in a "computer"
oriented manner for consumption by Bacula.
The link to the online manual containing the table is:
the same chapter (a bit higher in the text) has my recommended
Thank you for your interest in Bacula,
good luck, and please let me know how it works out.
