TY Jimi ;
I got a lot of good info from your post that I had never even considered .I use Jammer to demo songs I write .it is a midi music program
.It is better than BIAB and not as good as propeller head.
And I just assumed it is stereo I will go back and look at my book but that makes since to me as the possible cause of my problem. As far as sending me screen shots spam away and thanks I have only 30-40 plug-ins .Now on my plug-in question I wasn't very clear on my problem .What I need to know is about the ones that appear in the "generate" pop down such as , all the 4 front modules, ersdrums ,mda dx-10 jx 10, mda piano , muon atom ,ect should these work with audacity if they do then I'll go back and see what I'm doing wrong .
Thanks again Jimi...

Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
First of all I'm a musician and not an engineer and know very little
about computers so forgive my simple questions .But I'm here to learn
.When I record using stereo mix my left and right channels are different
(one is hotter than the other) is there anyway to set that so it always
records L and R at the same level ,is this because I have my input
panned already and if so why is the amount of L R difference always the
same .Also I am downloading vst plug ins some work and some don't is there
a list somewhere that will tell me which ones work with Audacity and
which don't and where I can get them .I have a good start but would like
them all .Anyway I have more questions but let me ask and learn in
chunks it is easier for me to swallow.
IMHO, with "freeware" vst plugins with audacity, many that are super GUI oriented may be a little weird.....so as you add plugs, do it one or two at a time, and restart audacity each time...
that way if ya get a crash, you can remove whichever plug is causing it, rather than spend an hour or three in frustration trying to remember or figure out what plug caused it. i speak from experience, LOL...
there are a LOT of plugs out there that work great....
surf around and you'll find some, i have at least 60 or 70 VST's that work great that were all freeware. if time permits later, i'll try and take a screen shot or three and email them to you if ya want, but please let me know, i don't wanna spam ya with them....a screenshot of the plugin list would be much easier than typing all that out, lol....
Voxengo are good, MDA, FS,etc...
as for the stereo issue?
i think it's because many instruments and effects etc, tho they SAY they are stereo aren't really, more like "bi-aural", with one side being dominant (mono) and the other being like verbs, etc.
if it were true stereo going in, there shouldn't be a problem, i often pan drums in a track when i generate them to a wav file, and they seem to work fine without any weird stereo imaging...
guitars recorded from "stereo" provcessors theo often cause exactly what you describe.
best of luck,
