Sorry, you are right. It says, "C:\Program Files\Audacity 1.1"
Setup starts and says, "This will install Audacity 1.1. Do you wish to
continue?"
The next "Welcome" screen says "This will install Audacity 1.1.2 on your
computer."
Then the default directory is "C:\Program Files\Audacity 1.1"
The Start Menu folder is "Audacity 1.1"

My point is that I was wanting to have 1.1.2 in a different directory so I
could test it without it wiping out the previous 1.1.1 version. It's
confusing (to me, at least!) to also have desktop icons which don't
distinguish the different versions clearly.
Oh, the problem with Audacity using the short DOS file name still remains.
That happens when double clicking the *.aup file from Windows Explorer. The
short name appears in the title bar and it tries to use that when saving.
There is no problem using File|Open.
