I fixed more bugs in the server (what a surprise) and finished the
functions for ObjectFile load, CharacterFile load / save and WorldFile
load/save. In order to do that I had to change some stuff.
I removed the folder object_info where all the objects had a single file
that described them. Instead of that all the objects that can be created
by the server are now inside ObjectFile.arianne. This has the advantage
that you got a single file you need to maintain and change if you wanna
create new objects, but has the disadvantage that once it gets bigger
you need a program to maintain it. (which I will write sometime in the

a) show the syntax of the file so other people can add to it.
b) have a set of objects we need to create a little game for the next
For the next release I think of having a game together where people can
walk around the world, pick a class and race and battle other people
with weapons and magic. (Thats the stuff that is already programmed and
just needs bugfixing)
They also will be able to trade stuff, chat and have a bankbox to store
stuff safely. Plus additionally whatever else we decide to work on once
code thaw is over.
What I need from the graphic department is 2D graphics to represent the
objects I created. Here is the list:
iron two-handed sword
iron holy staff
Race: human (male)
Race: elf (female)
Race: orc (neutrum :P)
For the races we need a working 3d model and create 2D animations from
it. First for walking into all four directions and then for attacking
into all four directions. For attacks we need at least one sword type, a
ranged attack and a melee/spell attack animation. Thats 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 =
16 Animations, and that times three. Thats a lot of work, I know.... but
we will never get a game without those. ;)
Also I need a large JPG of the models for the purpose of displaying them
on the race selection screen of the 2dclient / 3dclient. Make that one a
nice, good looking picture... (or I do it myself later lol)
The orc is already done as far as I remember, at least the non-attacking
one. So should be the human, although I dont like the 2d human graphic
thats inside Kyra/Graphics. It may even be stolen from some other
game???! At least its not the 3D model we have.
The elf we need completely new.
Later on we will need to have the human and the elf in both male and
female variants, but if we have what I mentioned above I am really
satisfied for the next release!
Please check out the module arianne_content from CVS, there are all the
graphics that have been made. The 3D models need at least an overhaul,
also please be aware of the polygon count. Yes, we want high poly models
for the 2D client, but we also need a low poly model for the 3d client
afterwards, so either create both models or just a low poly thats still
good enough for the 2dclient. Also check out how the graphics are then
put into the Kyra animation format, the folder is:
Alright, PLEASE some graphics leader take over and organize that stuff,
or divide work / supervise the whole thing.
Remember, all the graphics should be 3DStudio .max files. From that we
create the 2D graphics. Of course you can create the graphics with
whatever program you like, just in the end it should be a .max file. :)
The graphic section leader have additional information on whats wanted /
required for graphics.
Thx a lot.... if we get those graphics I promise we have a working game
in a few month, and at least one thats fun playing.
On a sidenote, those graphics you create are not placeholders, they will
be put into the game, maybe with a different name or something, that
depends on the world creation team that creates the actual game later.
But those graphics are not temporary, we always need a sword and an orc
or elf. ;)
