Hey I do this all the time... Load your music into Audacity one at a time in the order that you want it... Then use "Amplify" so that they are equal volume levels... Find a spot where you can fade the first track...then do a "Fade Out".. Now listen to your second track and do a "Fade In"... now put it in place "cut and paste" under the first track so one track with run into the second. Then just do the next track the same way and the next... One tip is to check how much time you will need for your master video, this will give you an insight into maybe cutting down some of your tracks...

Now I always save as an Audacity file just in case I will need to edit later... You can then save as a .wav or .mp3 and the music will all be in one file.

This is a slow process but will give you a great seamless background...

Tips: use Amplify to balance all the tracks
        always do a fade in and a fade out and overlap so the music is smooth and seamless
        always save as an Audacity file --- I find I always need to change something later

I can't see anywhere that he mentioned mp3 at all.
