TurboVNC is a high-performance, enterprise-quality version of VNC based on TightVNC, TigerVNC, and X.org. It contains a variant of Tight encoding that is tuned for maximum performance and compression with 3D applications (VirtualGL), video, and other image-intensive workloads. TurboVNC, in combination with VirtualGL, provides a complete solution for remotely displaying 3D applications with interactive performance. TurboVNC's high-speed encoding methods have been adopted by TigerVNC and libvncserver, and TurboVNC is also compatible with any other TightVNC derivative. TurboVNC forked from TightVNC in 2004 and still covers all of the TightVNC 1.3.x features, but TurboVNC contains numerous feature enhancements and bug fixes relative to TightVNC, and it compresses 3D and video workloads much better than TightVNC while using generally only 5-20% of the CPU time of the latter. Using non-default settings, TurboVNC can also be made to compress 2D workloads as "tightly" as TightVNC.

smartmontools contains utility programs (smartctl, smartd) to control/monitor storage systems using the Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology System (S.M.A.R.T.) built into most modern ATA and SCSI disks. It is derived from smartsuite.

It can get/set sensor readings & thresholds, automate SEL management, do SOL console, etc. Supports Linux, Windows, BSD, Solaris, MacOSX. The only IPMI project tool that runs natively on Windows. Ganglia is a scalable distributed monitoring system for high-performance computing systems such as clusters and Grids. It is based on a hierarchical design targeted at federations of clusters. Supports clusters up to 2000 nodes in size.

LCDproc controls various LCD and VFD devices in a standardized way, and ships with a client to display various system statistics. Supports multiple platforms (Linux, *BSD, Solaris). Client/server model allows multiple clients to use one display.

This project is used to provide a free java based open source Apache Http Server GUI. The solution is deployed as a web application that is accessible through a web browser. Identify sizes of memory modules installed on a Solaris, Linux, FreeBSD or HP-UX workstation or server. memconf reports the size of each SIMM/DIMM memory module installed in a system. It also reports the system type and any empty memory sockets. In verbose mode, it also reports the following information if available: - banner name, model and CPU/system frequencies - address range and bank numbers for each module

The OVAL Interpreter is a freely available reference implementation that demonstrates the evaluation of OVAL Definitions. Based on a set of OVAL Definitions the interpreter collects system information, evaluates it, and generates a detailed OVAL Results file. Developed to demonstrate the usability of OVAL Definitions and to ensure correct syntax and adherence to the OVAL Schemas by definition writers, it is not a fully functional scanning tool nor an enterprise scanning tool. It is a simplistic, command-line application that has the ability to execute OVAL Content on an end system. pam_mount is a Pluggable Authentication Module that can mount volumes for a user session (login). Supports mounting local filesystems of any kind the normal mount utility supports, with extra code to better support CIFS, FUSE, various crypto, and more.

JPAM is a Java PAM bridge. PAM, or Pluggable Authentication Modules, is a standard security architecture used Unix, Linux and Mac OS X systems. JPAM permists the use of PAM authentication services to Java applications running on those platforms.

PWman is a text-based application for securely storing and managing passwords, using a gpg encrypted xml file, based on the ui design of abook (http://abook.sourceforge.net). PWman works on Linux, and should also run on most other UNIXes(untested).
