The file “Ship, Tow-Tether and Moonpool Models.zip” is a collection of linked macro-enabled Excel workbooks suitable for conceptual to preliminary design of the title systems. The file “Block Diagram.pdf” shows linkages and summarizes each workbooks’ major features. FD and TD at the end of a file name denotes frequency domain and time domain solutions, respectively. Except for the moonpool TD model, which is a solution to the nonlinear equations of motion for the moonpool piston mode, TD solutions are obtained by superposing FD solutions in uniform random phase. Toolbars on the plot tabs can be activated to expose plot options. Model input parameters are defined in comments to the input cells of each workbook. (Use the TAB key to move between input cell.) Dropdown menus on the first worksheet of each linked workbooks facilitate moving between open workbooks. Supporting documentation is included. -

While an application is running, users can move, resize, and tune all the screen objects through which the communication with an application is going. Set of files includes the book (both in DOC and PDF formats), a big demonstration project with all its files available (all the source files are in C#), and an additional description of many used classes. Book uses the examples from the demo project to explain everything in details. The examples are from many different areas. Examples from the first part of the book are aimed at the details of algorithm and its use with different objects; examples from the second part are mostly the real and very useful applications.

SPINA
Structure parameter inference approach for endocrine feedback control
SPINA is software for determining constant structure parameters of endocrine feedback control systems from hormone levels obtained in vivo. The first version of this cybernetic approach allows for evaluating the functional status of the thyroid gland, i.e. thyroid's secretory capacity (GT or SPINA-GT) and sum activity of peripheral deiodinases (GD or SPINA-GD). A second version has been developed for insulin-glucose homeostasis. It delivers the secretory capacity of pancreatic beta cells (SPINA-GBeta), an estimate for the insulin receptor gain (SPINA-GR) and a static disposition index as a measure for the loop gain of the feedback loop (SPINA-DI). Both implementations of SPINA have been validated in clinical studies on the basis of large cohorts. -
