Sitewide Emails in HTML

Last month we did a test run by sending a percentage of our Sitewide Updates in HTML format. We tried using HTML for a few reasons:

* It gives us so much more flexibility with regard to formatting and readability. (That crazy stuff called CSS is magical, I tell you.)
* It allows us to gather metrics around whether or not you guys are really reading the updates, and if they are interesting. This will help us make them not lame, and not being lame is good.

The response to the HTML test was overwhelmingly positive, and as such, we will be sending them all out in HTML format (unless you’ve indicated otherwise). We know that some of you do prefer text, and that’s perfectly fine, too. You can change your preferences with one click.

You’ll get your copy in the next day or two, so keep your eyes open and let us know what you think. And of course, if you have any questions about this, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
