Help Wanted: Scrum-it, RUR, GSVideo

The response to our recent Help Wanted posts has been a little overwhelming. It seems like there’s a lot of people out there looking around for projects to get involved in, and all you have to do is ask.

So, we’re asking.

Here’s three more projects that have requested help of one kind or another.

  • Scrum-it

Scrum-it supports all your management tasks in agile projects and is the interface between the digital and the real world. It’s optimized for a touch-screen environment.

Scrum-it is looking for someone to adopt the project. It’s a functional product, but the original developer no longer has time to work with it.

Scrum-it is developed using JSP, so you’ll need to be proficient with that. Please contact me directly at rbowen AT sourceforge DOT net if you’d like to get involved.

  • RUR: a Python Learning Environment

“Roberge’s Used Robot (RUR) : a Python Learning Environment” is a Python implementation of a “robot environment” as introduced by R. Pattis in 1981. RUR is similar in spirit to GvR, although it uses Python syntax.

The RUR project is in need of something of a reboot. If you’re interested in getting involved in the project, and if you have some Python chops, please get in touch and I’ll fill you in on some of the history and details of the project.

  • GSVideo

GSVideo is a cross-platform library for the Processing programming language that provides video support (movie playback, video capture, creation of movie files) through the use of the GStreamer multimedia framework.

Although the project gets a lot of downloads every week, development has been stagnant over the last year, with the lead developer moving on to other things. If you’re interested in video, or in the Processing programming environment, please let me know, and I’ll make the necessary introductions.
