Wing Linux
Welcome!
Welcome to our project wiki. We aim to bring Linux and Google's Android operating systems to the T-Mobile Wing, HTC Herald / Atlas platforms and many other OMAP850-based devices.
Currently, the Angstrom stable/2009 Linux distribution (as of November 2009) featuring the 2.6.25 kernel and debugging / development utilities operate on many devices, including the T-Mobile Wing / HTC Herald, along with a functional Android 1.5r4 installation. The system boots using the HaRet boot system, so no flashing is involved. The kernel is based on the work done by the linwizard project.

Check out our new blog! Thanks to UNFORGiVEN512 for setting it up!
Current Release
The latest release is 0.4.2. Installation of Wing Linux is a snap -- Simply install the CAB file into Windows Mobile and you're good to go! Get it here.
Help Wanted
If you have an OMAP850-based device and would like to help, we're looking for developers familiar with Linux programming and especially kernel development who are willing to help maintain, test, and develop for each of the different devices we support. Shoot us an email or drop by #wing-linux on freenode.org if you're interested!
Development News
November 21, 2009
We received feedback from Star Trek users that the 0.4.1 release would not boot, even though 0.4 would. We tracked this down to a problem in the build system, and have released 0.4.2 to correct this issue.
Additionally, 0.4.2 includes the ability to reboot your phone from Android -- simply hold down End and select Power Off. Your phone will reboot.
Enjoy!

Also remember, when you install it, remove your rootfs.img and rootfs.img.swp, otherwise the upgrade won't take effect. This will remove any customization you've done to your installation.

Wing Linux version 0.3pre2 went out today for testing. This version includes changes to the kernel that hopefully fix the white screen issue that's plagued some of our users from the beginning. Additionally, all buttons on the Wing now fire events, and many of them are mapped into Android. The keyboard symbols and numbers are now mapped exactly as they are on the phone and in WM6 (in console mode only).
This release, like the previous one, also includes Android 1.5 (Cupcake).
You can grab a copy in the Development section on this site.
