Conformance Testing & Performance Evaluation of 802.11n

The project objective is to develop a tool (For description and goals of the tool, have a look at Description) for testing the conformance and performance evaluation of 802.11n products. The tool is meant for injecting arbitrary frames to test the conformance of any wifi product.

The tool has templates for generating various kinds of frames (see Supported Frames) which can be customized for generation of specific frames. The tool can be used to elicit responses from other wifi cards to check the conformance of the card to the protocol. At present, 802.11g frames are completed. However, development for other 802.11 extensions like 802.11n, 802.11e etc are being pursued.

The tool is being developed by the wireless communication group (http://comm.au-kbc.org) at AU-KBC Research Centre (http://au-kbc.org) and is supported by the National Resource Centre for Free and Open Source Software (NRCFOSS), India (http://nrcfoss.org.in). We also acknowledge the generous donation of wi-fi equipment from Atheros Communications, Chennai.
